In Memory of "Milagro"
"Los Azules Against All Odds"
May 25 - Aug 9, 2007

On Aug 8, 2007, we had a rattlesnake outside our back
door. It bit Milagro, Apollo and Delta. Milagro did not
survive despite being rushed to the veterinary clinic and receiving 2
doses of anti-venom and other treatments. She took our hearts with
her and we will never forget her.
Milagro means "miracle" in Spanish. She was named this
because she was the runt and struggled to survive from birth. We had
to bottle feed the puppies because Shasta wasn't giving enough milk. When
she was two weeks old, and less than 2 pounds, Milagro aspirated and got pneumonia. She wasn't
expected to live. She was on round the clock treatments for 2 weeks. She not only lived, but was thriving and starting to
catch up with the rest of the pups. She had green eyes. When
she first started walking, she did not look real. She looked like a
china doll. She loved life and was
exceptionally smart. There was something very special about Milagro and everyone who met her
noticed it.
